Yesterday I finished rewatching Babylon 5. B5 creator John Straczynski (JMS) set out to make a grandiose video novel, and he totally nailed it. Everything is so melodramatic and epic that it's even funny in places.
True, the plot is strained and disjointed in spots, but then again, JMS had to battle a massive number of problems. It's amazing how it was even possible to create something so grandiose and well-thought-out.
The final episode is terribly sad and heavy, all the melodrama is justified, and tears flow against your will. And actress Mira Furlan (Mira Furlan) really ought to be taken up to heaven while still alive, she is so perfectly suited for the role of Delenn.
